Bay St. George RCMP investigating vehicle fire, requesting public’s assistance

Justice, News

Police in Stephenville are investigating a vehicle fire that resulted in damages to a local car dealership Thursday night and asking anyone with information to contact Bay St. George RCMP.

On August 6, shortly before 11:00 p.m., Bay St. George RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle fire outside a vehicle dealership on Prince Rupert Drive in Stephenville. The fire was fully extinguished by the Stephenville Fire Department, however, there was extensive damage to the vehicle and to the exterior of the dealership building.

Witnesses who spoke with police at the scene reported seeing a small dirt bike leaving the area via West Street. Police are looking to speak with the operator of that vehicle as soon as possible, as they may have information that could support the investigation.

Anyone with information about this incident or the person responsible are asked to contact Bay St. George RCMP at 709-643-2118. This includes witnesses and those with surveillance and dash camera footage from the areas of Prince Rupert Drive, West Street and Kippens Road on Thursday, August 6 between 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
