77-year-old man dead following pedestrian-vehicle collision in St. John’s, RNC investigating
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating a fatal pedestrian-vehicle collision in St. John’s.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. today, Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a pedestrian-vehicle collision at the intersection of Allandale Road and Prince Philip Drive. The pedestrian, a 77-year-old male, succumbed to his injuries, having been struck by a school bus. The uninjured driver of the bus was co-operative and remained on scene; there were no passengers onboard at the time of the collision. The ongoing investigation is not believed to be criminal in nature.
The RNC is offering sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
Witnesses or bystanders of the collision may experience secondary trauma. Anyone requiring mental health support is encouraged to call 811.
RNC collision reconstructionists are seeking any witnesses or video footage (CCTV, dash camera, cell phone) from the area in the lead up to or immediately following the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact the RNC at 709-729-8000.
