RNC, Highway Enforcement focus on commercial vehicle safety in three-day campaign
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary joined forces with Highway Enforcement for a public awareness initiative to increase education around commercial vehicle safety.
Between July 16-18, officers from both agencies partnered to conduct multiple traffic safety checkpoints during ‘Operation Safe Driver’, a national campaign focused on motorcycle noise, commercial vehicle safety, and licensing and equipment compliance.
Officers targeted high complaint areas of Waterford Bridge Road, and the Outer Ring Road at East White Hills in St. John’s, as well as Kenmount Road in Paradise. There was large compliance and most infractions were able to be corrected roadside. Tickets were issued for things like insecure cargo, unregistered vehicles, invalid driver’s license, and other licensing and registration infractions.
