Lewisporte RCMP seizes vehicle from driver caught traveling 90+ km/h over the limit
A 45-year-old man had his vehicle seized and licenced suspended after he was caught by Lewisporte RCMP travelling more than 90+ km/h over the posted speed limit on Saturday.
Shortly before 4:30 p.m. on July 18, an officer patrolling Road to The Isles (Route 340) in Lewisporte observed a vehicle traveling at speeds up to 158 km/h where the posted speed limit was 60 km/h. After the radar locked the driver’s speed in at 154 km/h, a traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 45-year-old Campbellton man, was issued a roadside suspension and ticketed for excessive speed.
In addition, police seized and impounded the vehicle he was driving.
