News, Politics

Premier Tony Wakeham is heading to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island this week for the annual council of the federation meeting, where Canada’s premiers will gather before meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Premier Wakeham says he’ll push Newfoundland and Labrador’s priorities, including strengthening the economy, improving affordability, public safety and health care. He’ll also promote the province’s role in Canada’s new defence strategy, highlighting plans for a floating drydock at Bull Arm, while stressing the need for increased federal health-care funding.
