The Chicks headline second sold-out night at Churchill Park Music Festival
It was a spectacular weekend for music fans as thousands packed Churchill Park in St. John’s for two unforgettable nights of live entertainment.
The Chicks took centre stage Saturday night, delivering a powerhouse performance that reminded fans why they’re one of country music’s most celebrated acts. The 13-time Grammy Award winners had the crowd singing along to hit after hit, including Landslide, Gaslighter, Goodbye Earl, and Cowboy Take Me Away. It was an electric atmosphere from the opening song to the final tune.
The festival roared to life Friday night, with pop superstar Kesha kicking off the weekend in unforgettable fashion. Her high-energy show had fans on their feet, launching another successful edition of the Churchill Park Music Festival.
Adding to the experience, both sold-out concerts were treated to near-perfect weather, with warm temperatures and clear skies creating an ideal backdrop for an incredible weekend of music.
In just a few short years, the Churchill Park Music Festival has grown into one of Atlantic Canada’s premier music events, attracting some of the biggest names in the industry in recent years, including Shania Twain, Alanis Morissette, Nickelback, and now The Chicks and Kesha.
One of the weekend’s most memorable moments happened away from the main stage. Prior to her concert, Kesha made a surprise appearance at Zimmy’s at the Jag in downtown St. John’s, joining Newfoundland and Labrador’s Julia Dawson for an impromptu performance of Come Together. The intimate duet quickly became the talk of the town, bringing together a global superstar and a hometown rising star in a truly unforgettable moment.
And the music isn’t over yet. The festival continues next weekend, with rock favourites Matchbox Twenty and country superstar Keith Urban set to headline what promises to be another incredible weekend in St. John’s.
