RCMP brings back positive ticket program for Labrador youth
The RCMP is bringing back its positive ticket program for the summer, recognizing young people across Labrador for their positive actions.
The Criminal Prevention and Victim Assistance Group with the RCMP’s Labrador District Community Policing Services will be looking for youth who demonstrate kindness, safety and leadership throughout the summer.
Young people who are caught doing something positive, such as wearing a bicycle helmet, helping someone, following safety rules or being a good role model, could receive a positive ticket that can be exchanged for a prize from local business partners.
“While we celebrate summer in Labrador, we know it is important to maintain connections with youth in the region and encourage positive behaviours,” said Cpl. Karl MacIssac with the RCMP’s Labrador District Community Policing Services. “We hope youth will get outside, stay safe and show kindness toward others, and we look forward to recognizing them for it.”
The RCMP says the program would not be possible without support from local businesses and organizations that provide prizes and help recognize young people making a positive impact in their communities.
Businesses or organizations interested in supporting the program can contact the RCMP’s Labrador District Community Policing Services at 709-896-1231.
