Man in custody for attempted murder back in court next week
The 67-year-old man charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a snowmobiler near his home in Port au Port West in February of 2025 is expected to appear in Corner Brook Supreme Court on July 20.
Harold Wayne Hynes has been in custody since last year. He’s facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and several firearm-related counts including pointing and discharging a firearm with the intent to endanger a life. This comes after an incident on Feb 21, 2025, when two snowmobilers were crossing gravel pond and one of the operators, Chad Hickey, came to an abrupt stop after being shot in the head.
The 67-year-old has pleaded not guilty and will face those charges in court on July 20.
