RNC charge man with firearms offences
The RNC charged a male with firearms offences in St. John’s.
Police were conducting extra patrols Sunday in the Cochrane Pond area as part of ongoing investigations into suspicious fires.
While using a drone for additional patrols around 2 p.m., officers observed a male walking on the roadway carrying two firearms. While maintaining a visual of the man who was not observed using or brandishing the firearms, officers were able to locate and arrest the 68-year-old without incident.
Officers seized a .303 rifle and a BB gun. The accused was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm without a licence.
