Munition found in Happy Valley-Goose Bay safely detonated; no more threat to public, police say
Police say residents in the area of Mud Lake Road in Happy Valley-Goose Bay may have heard a loud noise a short time ago.
The sound was the result of the controlled detonation by officials of the suspected ordinance discovered in the Churchill River yesterday.
The item was safely assessed and disposed of by trained personnel. There is no ongoing risk to public safety, and the operation has now concluded.
