Youth and parents ticketed by RNC ATV Patrol

Justice, News

A recent enforcement initiative by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) saw both youth and parents ticketed for infractions under the Off-Road Vehicles Act.

Traffic Services members patrolled on ATV in parts of Conception Bay South, Paradise, Mount Pearl, and the Goulds, Cochrane Pond, and Paddy’s Pond areas of St. John’s, June 26-28.

In total, 12 tickets were issued, largely for operating on a roadway, and for operating without supervision. Parents were subsequently ticketed for allowing the vehicles to be operated unsupervised. Fines ranged from $325 to $650.

The RNC is reminding the public that electric dirt bikes are classified as off-road vehicles under provincial legislation. As a result, the same rules and regulations that apply to gas-powered off-road vehicles also apply to those operating e-dirt bikes.
