Evacuation orders lifted for three areas near Labrador City, but order remains in effect for Walsh River
Labrador City has lifted evacuation orders for the following areas:
- Duley Lake
- Tamarack Golf Course
- Throne Lake
These areas remain under Evacuation Alert. Residents in these areas can return to their properties effective immediately.
The evacuation order remains in place for the following area until further notice:
- Walsh River residents and cabin owners.

Air Quality
Residents of Labrador City and Wabush are encouraged to monitor the Air Quality Health Index, which provides suggestions for both the general public and those more at-risk from wildfire smoke on ways to protect their health. It is updated regularly throughout the day.
The Air Quality Health Index for the region is forecasted as ‘low risk’ for Thursday and Friday (July 2 and 3), except ‘high risk’ in the presence of smoke.

The Provincial Government recognizes that this may be a difficult time for people in our communities and encourages them to avail of mental health resources, if necessary.

- In a medical emergency, call 911.
