Two men charged with assault with a weapon in Sheshatshiu

Two men, aged 41 and 22, were arrested by Sheshatshiu RCMP Thursday morning in relation to an assault with a weapon.

At approximately 10:07 a.m. on June 25, police responded to reports of an assault in progress on McKenzie Drive in Sheshatshiu. Witnesses told police that two men were assaulting another person with a hockey stick.

The victim suffered injuries believed to be non-life threatening in nature and did not require immediate medical treatment.

Sheshatshiu RCMP located and arrested a 41-year-old man and a 22-year-old man in connection to the assault. The two men each face a Criminal Code charge of assault with a weapon.

The 41-year-old man also threatened officers and refused to cooperate with police demands before he was safely taken into custody. As a result, he faces additional charges of uttering threats and mischief under $5,000.

Both men were later released from police custody, and are expected make their first appearance in court on October 10, 2026.

The investigation continues.
