A 7.8 magnitude quake in the Philippines kills at least 32
An magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit the southern Philippines early today, killing at least 32 people and injuring more than 200 others – sending a one-metre tsunami into nearby coasts.
Some buildings collapsed with infrastructure sustaining damage in the city of General Santos. Some villages have confirmed tsunami damage.
The quake is the strongest to strike the country this year, was centred at sea off Mindanao, the second most populous island in the Philippine archipelago.
