Harbour Grace RCMP respond to shoplifting in progress, man arrested and charged
A 46-year-old man has been charged after Harbour Grace RCMP responded to a theft from a Carbonear retail store on Tuesday morning.
Shortly before 10:00 a.m. on May 26, police responded to a call for service at Powell’s Grocery Store on Water Street. An employee of the store told police they witnessed a man taking merchandise without paying and provided a description and surveillance video of the suspect.
An officer in the area attended the store and located the man as he left the store with the stolen items. He was arrested without incident.
The 46-year-old man from Harbour Grace was charged with theft under $5,000 and released from custody with conditions. He is expected to appear in provincial court in August 2026.
