St. John’s man charged with online child exploitation offences
Following a lengthy investigation that was conducted by the RCMP-RNC Integrated Internet Child Exploitation (IICE) Unit, 72-year-old Brian Griffin of St. John’s was arrested in April and charged with online child exploitation activity.
Griffin was arrested on April 30, but it was October of 2025 when IICE executed a search warrant at a St. John’s home. Electronics were seized and analyzed. The results of the forensic analysis of those devices, as well as other evidence collected, led to Griffin’s arrest.
He is charged with one count of transmitting child sexual abuse and child exploitation material, one count of possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, and one count of accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
Griffin was released, in accordance with arrest and release procedures, on conditions designed to protect the general public. He is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in St. John’s on June 18.
