Liberals win all three byelections as PM Mark Carney now has majority government

News, Politics

The Liberals won all three byelections Monday.

The results put the Liberals at 174 seats. The Conservatives have 140 seats, the Bloc Quebecois 22, the NDP six, and the Greens one.

In a social media post last night, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said the Liberals “did not win a majority government through a general election or today’s byelections. Instead, it was won through backroom deals with politicians who betrayed the people who voted for them,” he said, referencing the MPs who recently crossed the floor.
