Mallard Cottage to reopen in June 2026 under new co-ownership

Business, News

One of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most iconic and beloved culinary destinations is preparing to welcome guests once again. Mallard Cottage will officially reopen in June 2026, marking the beginning of a new era for the historic Quidi Vidi landmark.

Set within one of the most picturesque and culturally significant communities in the province, Mallard Cottage’s reopening represents far more than the return of a restaurant. It signals the revival of a place deeply woven into the story of Quidi Vidi and Newfoundland and Labrador itself.

At the heart of this next chapter is Blair McIntosh, owner of Mallard Cottage, who has fulfilled a long-held vision of assembling an extraordinary group of seasoned, passionate, and highly accomplished local stakeholders whose reputations and track records speak for themselves.

“This is a very special and deeply meaningful moment,” said McIntosh. “I have long believed that Mallard Cottage deserves a team of exceptional and distinctive entrepreneurial leaders, operators, and creative minds from the province – a team that not only understand the significance of this place, but who also have the experience, passion, and vision to elevate it with authenticity and care. Together, we are building something that honours the past while creating an exciting new future for one of the most unique dining destinations in North America.”

The restaurant will be operated by co-owners Mark Murphy and Eldon Murray, owners of The Postmaster’s Bakery and Postmaster’s House Bed & Breakfast, both widely respected for their craftsmanship, hospitality, and deep-rooted connection to the community
