Police investigating fatal collision that claimed the lives of a 23-year-old man and 21-year-old woman
Clarenville RCMP and RCMP Traffic Services Central are investigating the cause of motor vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH) near Bull Arm that resulted in the death of two individuals on Saturday.
At approximately 7:40 p.m. on April 4, officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision between a small passenger car and a pick-up truck on the Trans-Canada Highway between Arnold’s Cove and Come by Chance. Members of the Clarenville Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services personnel also responded to the crash.
The occupants of the passenger car, a 23-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, were pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the pick-up truck was transported to hospital by NL Health Services personnel for medical assessment and treatment.
A Collision Reconstructionist with RCMP Traffic Services attended the scene to assist with the investigation, and the highway was closed overnight while officers examined the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has also been engaged.
The investigation into the cause of the collision is continuing at this time, and will include an inspection of both vehicles.
