RNC make arrests linked to stolen vehicle
Three people are facing a number of charges after a stolen vehicle was located by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC).
On Saturday (April 4) around 11:15 a.m., officers received a report of a stolen vehicle. The RNC received numerous traffic complaints in the Mount Pearl area related to the vehicle however, all police attempts to stop the vehicle were called off due to public safety concerns.
Shortly after 12:00 p.m., the fraudulent use of a credit card that had been in the stolen vehicle led police to a convenience store on Blackmarsh Road. There, 29-year-old David Orach was arrested and charged with fraud, possessing a stolen credit card, carrying a concealed weapon, theft of a motor vehicle, possessing property obtained by crime, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and breaches of a release order. The vehicle was not located.
Around 2:45 p.m., police received information that the stolen vehicle had been involved in a collision on Pitts Memorial Drive. Patrol officers and Police Dog Services attended the location and, after a brief track, located Elliott Fry, 34, and Gavin Richards, 44, near a business in Donovan’s Industrial Park.
As a result, Fry has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, flight from police, dangerous operation, possessing property obtained by crime, possessing a stolen credit card, and breaches of a probation order. Richards has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle.
All three men were held to appear in court.
