Port Saunders RCMP arrested an impaired driver late Saturday night during a traffic stop in Port au Choix.

Just before midnight on March 28, police conducting routine patrols on Fisher Street observed a male driver showing signs of clear impairment. Police also noted an open container of alcohol inside of his vehicle.

The driver, a 43-year-old Glovertown man failed a roadside breath test and was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance. He transported to the Port Saunders RCMP detachment, where he provided breath samples that confirmed his impairment.

The man faces Criminal Code charges of impaired operation and impaired operation over 80 mg%. He was also ticketed under the Liquor Control Act for having open alcohol in a vehicle. His vehicle was impounded and his driver’s licence was suspended.

He was released from custody and will appear in Provincial Court in June 2026.
