UPDATE: Crab harvesters’ protest called off at Confederation Building tomorrow

News

Crab harvesters were expected to return to Confederation Hill tomorrow morning to protest, advocating for snow crab prices, following months of negotiations, but the protest has since been called off.

In a post to Facebook, the FFAW addressed it’s members, stating they have presented multiple options, based in legal advice, to remove crab from final offer selection but they’re yet to see concrete action.

But the union later posted the following:

“Premier Wakeham has just reached out. Tomorrow’s Panel hearing has been delayed. We will continue to update membership as we go forward. There will be no protest tomorrow. We are proceeding with next steps.”
