Rogues win second straight with 120-103 victory over Hoopers
The Newfoundland Rogues defeated the Halifax Hoopers 120-103 Saturday night at Mary Brown’s Centre to move into second place in The Basketball League’s Atlantic Canadian division.
Forward Leonard Turner set the tone early as the Rogues built a lead and held on. Halifax pulled to within five points late in the game but guards Dedric Boyd and Shakwon Barrett hit key baskets to secure the win.
Antonio Davis, a former Rogue and TBL All-Star, led Halifax and received a warm welcome from the crowd. Former Memorial University Seahawks player Norm Burry scored 11 points in his Rogues debut.
The two teams meet again Sunday afternoon at Mary Brown’s Centre.
