Gander RCMP tickets driver for expired registration and window tint

Justice, News

A 25-year-old man was ticketed by Gander RCMP this morning after he was found operating an unregistered vehicle with window tint outside of the legally allowed standards.

Just after 8:00 a.m. on March 18, police stopped a vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway near Benton after receiving reports that it was speeding. The driver, a 25-year-old Marystown man, was traveling the speed limit when police stopped him, but was found to be operating the vehicle without proper registration. The vehicle was also observed to have window tint that did not adhere to provincial regulations. The driver was issued summary offence tickets under the Highway Traffic Act and its Licensing and Equipment Regulations.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, vehicle window tint is not permitted on windshield and front side windows of any vehicle. Reflective tint is also prohibited.
