PerSIStence Theatre appoints Sharon King-Campbell as new producing artistic director
Sharon King-Campbell has been appointed PerSIStence Theatre’s new producing artistic director.
King-Campbell is an award-winning local theatre artist with an impressive record of experience and accomplishments. In leadership, she has played key roles with World’s End Theatre Company, Kittiwake Ballet, and the Shakespeare by the Sea Festival.
She is also a published playwright and poet, actor, director, producer, storyteller, and scholar. She holds a BFA Theatre and a MA English from Memorial University, and is in the final stages of her PhD.
The company’s previous producing artistic director, Jenn Deon, led the company as a co-founder from 2017-2025.
“The combination of artistic, administrative and strategic leadership can be hard to find – but mostly, it needs to be a person who is passionately committed to our vision of community enlightenment based on the core beliefs of feminism,” said Deon. “I am truly grateful to the Universe that that person has now made themselves known.”
“I am so excited to dig into this work,” King-Campbell said. “To keep telling and amplifying stories to continue the incredible work that this company has been doing for the last eight years.”
