Bay St. George RCMP arrest woman for violating of court ordered conditions
Bay St. George RCMP arrested 31-year-old Samantha Cornect on Friday morning, after police confirmed she was violating her court-ordered release conditions.
Around 12:30 a.m. on March 5, police conducted a compliance check to confirm that Cornect was inside her Stephenville residence and abiding by the curfew detailed in her release order. When an officer arrived, they confirmed that she was not inside.
Police located her during the early morning hours of March 6, and she was arrested and returned to the detachment without incident.
She was charged with failure to comply with a release order and is scheduled to appear in court today.
Across the province, RCMP officers conduct checks to ensure compliance with court-ordered conditions, with the goals of reducing repeat crime and enhancing public safety. Continued monitoring and follow up checks also allows police to intervene quickly when conditions are breached, while also recognizing and supporting those who are complying.
