Woman has her license suspended after driving 68 km/h over the posted speed limit
Bay D’Espoir RCMP caught a 32-year-old woman travelling at speeds up to 148 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Tuesday, March 3.
Shortly after 12:15 p.m., an officer patrolling St. Alban’s Road observed a vehicle travelling 68 km/h over the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was issued a roadside suspension, and ticketed for excessive speeding. In addition, police seized and impounded the vehicle she was driving.
RCMP is urging motorists to slow down and drive with added caution as weather and road condition can change and deteriorate quickly. They say the extra minute or two that you might save by speeding is simply not worth it. There are penalties like fines, or the loss of your licence or vehicle. But RCMP stated there are far worse consequences, like life-altering injuries or even death.
