RCMP lay murder charges for fatal house fire in Nain
RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador’s Major Crimes Unit has charged 33-year-old Joey Millie with two counts of first-degree murder and one court of arson with disregard for human life in relation to a November 2025 fire at a residence in Nain. At approximately 9:00 p.m. on Nov. 27, 2025, Nain RCMP responded to a fire at a residence on Middle Path Road.
Two individuals were discovered deceased inside the home.
The RCMP Major Crime Unit assumed control of the investigation, and on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, police arrested 33-year-old Joey Millie of Nain, Millie has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of arson with disregard for human life.
Millie appeared in provincial court yesterday (March 1) and was remanded into custody. He is expected to appear in court next on March 11, 2026.
The investigation into the fire remains active and ongoing at this time.
