Gushue opens final Brier with victory over Quebec

News, Sports

It was a magical start for hometown hero Brad Gushue and his Newfoundland and Labrador rink.

Playing in his final Brier, the 45-year-old skip gave the hometown fans plenty of reason to cheer, delivering a 10-2 win over Quebec on the opening night of the Canadian men’s curling championship.

Gushue has announced his retirement following the end of the season, but he’s hoping to go out with a win at home. It was in St. John’s in 2017 where Gushue and his team won their first Brier. Since then, Team Gushue has won six titles and is hoping for a seventh on home ice.
