Hopedale RCMP arrests impaired snowmobiler

Justice, News

Police arrested a 40-year-old man Wednesday afternoon, after receiving a report of a suspected impaired snowmobiler.

Shortly after 3:00 p.m., police received a call from a concerned resident who suspected a man was operating his snowmobile under the influence of alcohol.

Police began patrols for the described snowmobile and located the vehicle and driver a short time later. The man failed a standard roadside breath test and was arrested for impaired operation. He was transported to the local detachment where he provided additional breath samples that were twice the legal limit.

He was released from custody, and is expected to appear in provincial court in April. His driver’s licence was suspended, and the snowmobile was returned to its legal owner by police.
