Rocky Harbour RCMP arrests man after responding to disturbance

Police arrested a 36-year-old man early Saturday morning after responding to a disturbance in Norris Point.

Shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Feb. 21, police were called to a home in Norris Point where a man known to the homeowners was acting aggressively and causing damage to the property. Officer arrived and took the suspect into custody. During his arrest, the man used his body to cause damage to the police vehicle and was transported to a nearby health centre for treatment of minor injuries.

During the course of their investigation, police learned that the same man had damaged a home and an excavator in Neddies Harbour the previous day.

Christopher Bourgeois, 36, was held in custody and is expected to appear in provincial court today on charges of:

  • Mischief – damage to property (two counts)
  • Mischief over $5,000 (two counts)
