Regiment beat Eagles 4-1 for sixth straight win
ST. JOHN’S, N.L. — The Newfoundland Regiment have won six games in a row after beating the Cape Breton Eagles 4-1 on Friday night at the Mary Brown’s Centre.
Newfoundland played a strong opening period, with Dawson Sharkey and Maddex Marmulak each scoring late in the frame to send the Regiment into the first intermission up 2-0.
Liam Arsenault made it 3-0 midway through the second before Raoul Boilard got one back for Cape Breton, putting the Eagles behind two goals heading into the final period.
Tyson Goguen scored an empty-net goal at 16:47 of the third to make it 4-1. Goaltender Louis-Antoine Denault stopped 33 of 34 shots, including all 10 he faced in the final period.
The two teams meet again Saturday in their last regular-season matchup.
