Sheshatshiu RCMP responds to disturbance, officer assaulted

Sheshatshiu RCMP has laid criminal charges, including two counts of assault on a police officer, against a 21-year-old Sheshatshiu man after police responded to a disturbance on Saturday morning.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 14, police responded to a disturbance involving two unwanted people at a home on Matshateu Street. Police identified and arrested a 21-year-old man at the scene. He resisted his arrest and assaulted an officer.

He was later released on an Appearance Notice, and is expected appear in provincial court on April 9, 2026, to face charges of:

  • Assault on a police officer – two counts
  • Resist or obstruct a police officer
  • Mischief under $5,000 – obstruct enjoyment of property.
