Power to most customers restored after trip on Labrador-Island link knocks out 70,000
A trip on the Labrador-Island transmission link knocked out power for 70,000 customers across the island Friday evening.
“A trip on the Labrador-Island Link transmission line has caused power interruptions to Newfoundland Power customers in several areas on the island,” Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro posted on social media. “These outages should be brief and restoration is underway for many customers.”
By 6:50 p.m., Newfoundland Power reported that most customers had power restored with about 3,000 left to go.
