The Newfoundland Regiment beat the Saint John Sea Dogs 5-4 in overtime Saturday at TD Station.

ST. JOHN’S, N.L. — Down 3-1 in the second period, the Newfoundland Regiment came back to beat the Saint John Sea Dogs 5-4 in overtime Saturday at TD Station.

Saint John’s Maxim Cote scored 22 seconds into the game, but Newfoundland’s Luke Sinclair tied it 1-1 moments later with his first QMJHL goal. Angelo Fullerton put the Sea Dogs ahead 2-1 late in the first period.

Olivier Groulx made it 3-1 for Saint John four minutes into the second period. Alexis Michaud scored on the next shift to cut it to 3-2 for Newfoundland.

Justin Larose tied it 3-3 on a power play with 13:31 left in the third period. Quinn Norman, from Newfoundland, scored his first QMJHL goal to give the Regiment a 4-3 lead with 7:14 left.

Groulx scored his second goal with 13 seconds left to tie it 4-4. Marek Danicek scored 3:08 into overtime to win it for Newfoundland.
