Placentia RCMP attempt to stop vehicle, driver and passenger arrested for breaching curfew
Placentia RCMP arrested two occupants of a vehicle that failed to stop for police Sunday evening. The two men — 34-year-old Krae Taylor and 33-year-old Stephen Leonard —were both found to be violating their court-ordered curfew.
At approximately 10:42 p.m. on Jan. 25, an officer on patrol attempted to conduct a traffic stop of an uninsured vehicle travelling along Main Road in Placentia. The vehicle failed to stop for police and continued driving. It was located outside a residence a short time later and two occupants of the vehicle were taken into police custody.
The driver was identified as Krae Carlson Roy Taylor, 34, who was the subject of a court-imposed release order that required him to remain inside his residence during a specific time period each day, and prohibited him from operating or sitting in the driver’s seat of any motor vehicle.
A passenger was identified as 33-year-old Stephen Leonard, who was also the subject of a court-imposed release order that included an order to remain inside his residence during designated hours.
Taylor faces Criminal Code charges of:
- Flight from police,
- Failure to comply with a release order – three counts,
Leonard is charged with three counts of failure to comply with a release order.
Both men appeared in Harbour Grace Provincial Court on Monday. Taylor and Leonard were remanded into custody and are both expected to appear in court next on Thursday.
