RNC Engage in Foot Chase After Suspect Vehicle Crashes in Downtown St. John’s

News

Tuesday, January 27th at 4:17pm, RNC patrol officers observed a vehicle on Blackmarsh Road in St. John’s that had failed to stop for police earlier in the day. The driver again failed to stop for police, and a chase was aborted in the interest of public safety. While the search for the vehicle was still ongoing, RNC learned that it had been involved in a collision with two other vehicles at a downtown intersection. From there, the occupants fled on foot. With the help of the K9 unit, officers located a 48-year old who was a passenger in the vehicle. He was charged with Public Mischief (by diverting suspicion), Resisting Arrest, Failure to Attend Court, and Breach of Release Order. Through an investigation, the 35-year old male driver was also arrested and charged with Flight From Police, Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance, Operation of a Conveyance while Prohibited, Resisting Arrest, and Breach of Probation. Both were held for court this morning.
