Police impound two uninsured vehicles after traffic stops on the Avalon

Justice, News

While patrolling in Marysvale and Harbour Grace over the weekend, officers with RCMP Traffic Services East stopped two unregistered and uninsured vehicles on local highways. Two drivers – a 60-year-old Heart’s Desire man and a 64-year-old Georgetown man – were ticketed and their vehicles were impounded.

On Jan. 23, at approximately 10:44 p.m., an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle observed speeding on Route 75 – the Veterans Memorial Highway – near Harbour Grace. The driver — a 60-year-old man — was discovered to be operating without valid insurance. In addition, the man had not transferred registration of the vehicle after purchase. Multiple summary offence tickets were issued under the Highway Traffic Act for speeding, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and failure to notify registrar of transfer of ownership.

The following day, Jan. 24 at about 4:20 p.m., an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle with its front window covered by snow, along Route 60 in Marysvale. The driver — a 64-year-old man — was also found to be operating without valid registration or insurance. Summary offence tickets were issued under the Highway Traffic Act for driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.
