Trinity-Conception RCMP respond to possible impaired motorist, driver ticketed and vehicle seized
A 48-year-old man is without his vehicle and his driver’s license after police responded to reports of a possible impaired driver at a drive-thru in Carbonear Wednesday night. Police also ticketed the man under the Liquor Control Act after open alcohol was also found inside his vehicle.
Just before midnight on Jan. 21, police received a report of an impaired driver at a local fast-food drive thru. Police located the described vehicle and the driver, who was exhibiting signs of impairment.
A roadside breath test was conducted, and the driver provided a breath sample that was above the provincial limit but below the criminal threshold for impaired driving. He was ticketed with charges of open alcohol in a vehicle, under the Liquor Control Act. His vehicle was seized by police, and he was issued a seven-day license suspension under the provincial Highway Traffic Act.
