Fundraiser announced for N.L. performer Fred Jorgensen following cancer diagnosis
A GoFundMe fundraising page has been created by family members of well-known Newfoundland musician Fred Jorgensen.
His family has announced that Jorgensen has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of lung cancer which has left him unable to work or perform while he undergoes a gruelling schedule of chemotherapy and radiation. They say he has not been able to work for several months now and is likely to be unable to return to performing for up to a year.
‘While his doctors are optimistic about his prognosis, Fred has a very long hard road ahead of him and myself and his family want to do what we can to ease the financial burdens he’s facing while unable to earn a living to support himself. As a self employed musician, he has no medical insurance and as a cancer patient, as well as being an insulin dependent diabetic, prescription costs are an extra concern, along with the rising cost of living.’
A benefit concert will also be taking place at the Jag Soundhouse on January 16th. The fundraising page can be found here.
