The province’s transportation minister is hopeful 24-hour snow clearing on 14 of the provinces busiest routes will be implemented in the coming days, as the recruitment of staff is almost complete.

Back in November the newly elected PC government promised to reinstate 24-hour snow clearing on some of the province’s busiest highways. Transportation Minister Barry Petten says the recruitment of staff, mostly heavy equipment maintenance officers, has taken longer than anticipated.

The province received 180 applications from equipment operators, and has approved 44 of those applications.
