News

Sheshatshiu RCMP arrested a 52-year-old woman for impaired operation after responding to a call for assistance on Route 520 Sunday morning. Emergency medical services personnel reported a vehicle off the road between Sheshatshiu and Happy Valley-Goose Bay around 9:50 a.m. December 28, 2025. The paramedics suspected that the female driver was under the influence of drugs and requested police assistance as the woman drove away from the scene in the direction of North West River.

With the assistance of EMS personnel, Sheshatshiu RCMP located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, a 52-year-old woman, showed signs of impairment and was operating with an expired driver’s licence. The truck she was driving did not have a valid registration or insurance.

The woman was arrested for impaired operation and transported to hospital in Happy Valley-Goose Bay for collection of a blood sample. The vehicle was seized by police and removed from the scene. Police are now waiting on the results of the blood test to assess if charges of impaired operation are appropriate.
