Driver taken to hospital following single-vehicle crash on Saturday afternoon

The driver of an SUV was taken to hospital after crashing into a tree in downtown St. John’s on Saturday afternoon.

At about 1:30 p.m. emergency crews responded to the intersection of King’s Bridge Road and Forest Road. The driver of an SUV had crashed into a tree, causing extensive damage to the front of the vehicle. Passers-by and firefighters tended to the driver of the vehicle on the steps of a nearby church until paramedics arrived. The individual was helped to a stretcher and taken to a waiting ambulance. They were brought to hospital with unknown injuries.

Traffic was slowed in the area for a while, until the damaged vehicle could be removed.
