41-year-old man charged with double murder on Aldershot Street in St. John’s

A 41-year-old man has been charged with the murder of two other men in St. John’s.

On Dec. 1, the RNC responded to a house on Aldershot Street where officers found two men, ages 38 and 53, dead inside. Working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the deaths were determined to be homicides, with their injuries consistent with stab wounds.

As a result of an investigation by the RNC Major Crime Unit, 41-year-old Matthew Delaney was arrested yesterday, Dec. 11, at approximately 6:45 p.m. in the Water Street West area, and charged with two counts of murder. He was held to appear in court today.

The RNC is offering sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
