St. John’s city council approves next step for Bally Haly development

Business, News

It has been a development application many in the metro region are watching closely. KMK Capital, the applicant before council, is proposing a mixed use development on the former Bally Haley site at 100 Logy Bay Rd. The development would exist inside one hundred and sixteen acres that is currently zoned as open space, in its previous use as a golf course.

If approved, it would become one of the largest housing developments in the area in recent years and would include not just housing but commercial, retail, recreation and trails. It would also involve using existing road infrastructure but adding new access points. The proposed development would include more than 1200 new residences.

In Tuesdays council meeting, the city approved the next step for engagement. The applicant would first be responsible to engage residents and neighbours and then the City of St. John’s will host public consultation with an independent facilitator. There is no specific timeline on when consultations begin.
