A Carbonear man is facing a number of charges after ramming two marked police vehicles and injuring two officers.
RCMP say they were called to a disturbance at a home in Carbonear after an SUV drove into a parked vehicle. Police say they tried to stop the SUV a short time later but it rammed the RCMP vehicle and fled the scene.
At that time, RCMP the set up a number of road blocks and deployed a spike belt. At one point, the SUV reversed at high speed and rammed another patrol vehicle, causing significant damage and minor injuries to the two officers inside.
The spike belt punctured one of the tires on the SUV, which was later found abandoned at a gated commercial parking lot. the vehicle was confirmed stolen from St. John’s by RNC. 28- year old Adam Douglas Whalen was located later that night and faces at least 6 charges, including flight from police and assault with a weapon. He was held to appear in court. The investigation continues.
