Wanted man arrested after refusing to exit residence in Port aux Basques

Wanted man 44-year-old Leon Francis was arrested by Channel-Port aux Basques RCMP after a lengthy stand off yesterday afternoon at a residence in Port aux Basques. The Celebrity Silhouette cruise ship, operated by Royal Caribbean, has arrived in the port of St. John’s. The ship has 2886 passengers. The ship arrived at 7:00 a.m. this morning and will remain in port until 6:00 p.m. Passengers are on a cruise that visits Canada, the United States, Greenland and Iceland.

Road improvement contracts continue to be awarded
