A St. John’s woman accused of intentionally hitting a man she knows with a vehicle is now facing a charge of murder.
Her attempted murder charge was upgraded over the weekend, when the man she hit died in hospital.
On the afternoon of Aug. 16, the RNC responded to a collision involving a grey Honda Civic and a male pedestrian in the area of Golf Avenue at Mount Royal Avenue. The 41-year-old man was lying in the roadway and was seriously injured.
The woman’s other charges have also been upgraded — dangerous driving causing death and failing to stop at the scene of a collision that caused a fatality.
Her name and images of her can’t be broadcast after the judge agreed last week to a Crown-recommended publication ban.
The woman was scheduled to have a bail hearing Wednesday. However, with the new charges, her next court appearance has now been set for next month.
Anyone with information, or video footage (CCTV or dash camera) from the area of Golf Avenue, in the lead-up to or following the collision on August 16, is asked to contact the RNC at 709-637-4100.
