
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is searching for Ibrahim Hussein wanted for homicide.
On April 8, around 9:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of a weapons offence in progress in the area of Watson Street in the east end of St. John’s.
Upon arrival, officers located a man outside of a home with serious injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. The 33-year-old was rushed to hospital where he has since succumbed to his injuries. The RNC extends sincere condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
As a result of the investigation, the RNC has requested a warrant for the arrest of 19-year-old Ibrahim Hussein of St. John’s, on the following charges:
– First Degree Murder
– Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
– Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
– Careless use of a Firearm
– Breach of release order
The incident was targeted, however, Hussein is believed to be armed and dangerous. The RNC is advising the public not to approach Hussein, and to report any possible sightings directly to police.
Hussein is described as about 5’8” tall, weighing approximately 170 lbs. Hussein has black hair with dread locks, dark brown eyes, and is of Syrian descent. Hussein was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, and can often be seen wearing a headband.

Earlier Story: The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is investigating following a weapons offence the east end of St. John’s.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the RNC received a call of a weapons offence in the Watson Street area of St. John’s. Numerous police resources responded to the scene. Upon arrival an injured person was located and taken to hospital by ambulance. Their condition was not immediately known.
Police conducted a search of the area and identified a person of interest, who was taken into police custody.
The RNC closed a portion of Watson Crescent, and a section of East White Hills Road a short time after they arrived at the scene. Officers wearing tactical equipment could be seen, along with a police dog. The RNC stated on social media shortly after 1:00 a.m. that there was still an increased police presence in the area, and they believe there is no risk to the general public.
While police have not confirmed the type of weapon involved in the incident, several area residents reported hearing the sound of gunshots immediately before police responded.

Police and paramedics responded to the scene, on Watson Street, late Tuesday evening. As the investigation unfolds there is a heavy police presence on Watson Street and on Watson Crescent.
