Province releases what it heard from public on ‘squatter’s rights’

The province has released the results of what it heard in public consultations on proposed amendments to the land act. 

The changes are meant to help clarify possession of crown lands, specifically “squatters rights.” 

Province looking at reducing timeframe to establish squatters’ rights on Crown land

The province is proposing amendments to the Lands Act. Specifically, changing the way residents here can apply for ‘squatters right’, by reducing the amount of time they have to prove they’ve been occupying crown land.
